This is awesome this week ive started using tweeter more. it seems to be a useful tool with speaking with people that i would normally not. it seems more like a selective chatroom. but i can see the usefull ness in using it from a business prospective. i have also had some thought on what i should start blogging about. topics such as using globle or even local major news events of intrest would almost seem worth while from the business standpoint in blogging. as well as i had an idea strick me that possible blogging ventures can be made from using delicious social book marking. i have a feeling that the information of social book marking and the information on how many people are linking to that book mark might shine some light on what i might chooose to write about. for example if 8400 people have loaded up the same book mark then that might shine some light on what i could start blogging about.
Cascading Style Sheets also known as css is something that every coder needs to learn. they give a different feel and look to your XHTML site. essentially its a file that has been created by the coder, and what the coder can do with this is attach it to any of his or her DTD to give each one the same theme or color scheme or how you just want the page to be displayed. Html is the backbone for the world wide web. but with things changing the way that they have html just cant do everything that we want it to. So XHTML was created. XHTML is an upgrade from html. Aswell during the html period most coders would create extremely sloppy coding in their sites . Now the websites would still work but with this sloppy html coding it would give the web browser problems in some cases. But with XHTML things must be exact and its a very strict way of creating a website. but the end result is that you will have a better looking site AND you will be able to CSS to the site to make it look better, but css can be used with regular html.
Web standards were created for people who designed web sites. the web standard is there so that web browser creators will know what they want their browser to display.
A great place to get started if your interested in it would be to go to (here)
This week i was able to understand some of what “GTD” is and how it can work for me. I’m looking forward to getting the book and possibly going to one of the seminars. I’m in college now so this would be something I’m interested in learning more about. The ability to asses , re-asses ,and evaluate the situation to be able to come out on top every time through relaxed logical decision making is in my eyes valuable beyond belief. but in total again this week I’m re-learning how to learn.
I heard about a book written by David Allen called Getting Things Done. His book teaches one how to de-stress their work life in order to produce more productivity. The information i absorbed after hearing from his promo was very interesting. He compares his Getting Things Done material to martial arts, the martial arts deals with surprise and how to over come it through relaxed decision making. David Allen touches on points such as the difference between multitasking and rapid focusing. He describes multitasking like a person driving home and not remembering the time in between point “a” and “b”, and rapid focusing is the ability to focus rapidly and relaxed on many situations at one time and to be flexible with every situation. I really found those views really interesting and eye opening. Microsoft, Sony, Oracle, and many other major companies have used his skills in there companies to produce more productivity. At some point i will have to order this book to really grasp everything.
i have never heard of twitter in my life until it was brought up in class. i know that this is a need for companies, families, and small business’ . this is great to have a platform that send information to more than just one person at a time. i know that when I’m doing web design this will be a great tool to ask someone a question and everyone one is able to read it. or maybe if I’m late to work or someone else is, they can send in a message and let the whole team know so he or see is not stuck trying to call. so basically what i have learned this week is a new way on how to stay in communication with a team.
This is really neat. I’m finally starting to understanding how affective and use full information is when it can be sent and read instantly. the direction information has moved from was by sending messages across the phone or the TV or even a radio station to where anyone;now anyone can send out information right out of their house. its way easier and more affordable for anyone to send information to the Mass’s. i still haven’t understood what i can fully do with this way of communication, but i feel that when i have more of an understanding on how to broadcast information i think this is going to be perfect for the line of work i have chosen.
If i had just absorbed the information on how twitter works by just viewing their website, i would never have known some of the deeper uses. i think this is a great tool for any user to use to form a better and more advanced communication between family members, friends, business etc, but to actual have your colleagues or whom ever you speak with right at your fingertips is more helpful and useful than just the phone. now people of your group can receive information instantly; this goes both ways, they see your information instantly and you will see there response instantly. it’s almost like you are right there speaking with them even though everyone in the group maybe located with in a different geographical plane. To really get a feel of how twitter works check out this post i found written by kthxbai. from viewing this post you can definitely see the possibilities from using twitter. another great way to discribe twitter is that its just a virtual CoP. Another good feature of twitter is that if your not next to a computer you can have your messages sent to your mobile phone. i am very interested in exploring this new way of social information seeking over the web. it would be a great idea to be able to do this entirely with ANY mobile phone. not like three way calls but being able to share your opinion or information with way more than three people in one breathe, or have the option of just speaking to one person at a time. According to business week, tweeter has had some financial help from Union Square ventureres, twitter has added up to around 4.8 million dollars back in 2007, so i think it may be safe to say that twitter will be around for a while. So take advantage of this tool and use it.
I’m in love with this formate of blogging. It’s a lot easier for someone to really understand there blogger of choices feed. Theres things that the viewer can pickup on such as tone and body language. I feel more “genuine” in my eyes. In this day and age it really seems more practical to use podcasts when blogging due to its mobile ability use and effectiveness. Instead of reading on the go people can now listen to important informations and drive safely while operating their motor vehicle. From a business stand point it’s a great way for companies to really to display the pros and cons on their products or services through customers, as well, the viewer can really sit, listen, and feel whats really being said by the speaker. The aspect of being able to reach people through voice and video, has more of an ability to distract or absorb the viewers attention, than say reading an rss feed. Doing more in depth research i came across the name of Kerenza Faram through www.kapoo.com , (he has been deemed an expert in podcasting. ) how he speaks of entrepreneurship through podcasting is what intrigues me. he describes how to enter a web community and what to do from there. I found some other web sites with some information that was good, but none of them really hit home like Kerenza Faram did. The information I found from him would be information that I could see my self using for future business use. When looking up his authenticity about his blog entry, this website popped up http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kerenza_Faram. the information i found there really blew my mind on how beneficial and practical podcasting is. According to information I found here(author Kerenza Faram) it’s easy to make the assumption that podcasts will definitely be around in the future. Given that the Internet being young, it’s hard to determine the possibilities for this formate of communication; podcasts aren’t just for business use either they can even be used as a learning platform.
This task of finding and blogging about “information trapping” has left me with a couple of questions this week. With how powerful the web has become why is it that its so hard to hone in on something and omitting other things? i know that there is so much on the internet but its just seems in a since that the ying and yang in this case is way off. just thought maybe with how powerful the internet was maybe it would have somehow equaled itself out. And will web 3.0 and 4.0 etc. be able to hone in on these problems now? or will these problems seem to be getting bigger as time goes on with the internet. i guess what i have learned this week is that there is a strong need for something to balance this thing out so that people will be able to find information faster. but on the other hand with all these results that arent being omitted i guess could help as well. almost like a slinky affect. you know like you might accidently discover something that you didnt mean to, that might somehow help you in some way.
Getting information is very crucial. im sure you know that if you needed information, you essentially would use the internet to find this information faster. granted the information is faster but theres just way to much information in front of you. like most people you will panic. well some well known search engines such as www.google.com or www.yahoo.com have emplimented ways to refine the information thats dispalyed in front of you. to be honest i feel that this is just as good as sliced cheese. its great that all the information that you need is in front of you but if your not able to pick out any of the information, you might as well have just let someone sit in front of you and yell out all the information that you have found in your face. so what i’m getting at is that its a necessity to refine your search results so that its easier for you to decipher what you need. using plus signs and quotation marks are some of the few things that i will have to learn. (click here). its nice to find some sites like this, it will be nice to have the knowledge in the future if for some reason i cannot find the information on a certain website i am now able to quickly move to the next to get the same information just as fast by using different strokes. quickly its becoming a need to have information more refined than what we already have. yahoo is coming up with a way to give the same information but with a diffrent look. (click here). and theres even web browser add ons that can now refine searching. but with the approach that yahoo is taking i think its some where in the right approach. its almost as if your looking at yellowpages.com or something but with information thats related into a veriety of diffrent things vs. getting information on just a business number or location. personally i think having a web browser add-on and this different look of the information will need to become one sometime in the near future. because people will become more needy and dependent on their setup of the information vs just finding certain over view of things. basically you would have your own way of looking at the information being displayed to your standards, but not to forget having the information brought to you in a way that you can grasp and more detailed and descriptive i believe that this approach would help when trying to “trap information”. At the moment things are moving quickly in the ways of trapping information. but to me i think it needs to be more advanced at where we are at in this tech world.
